"Witnessing the distress of another person in pain tend to be a compelling experience that potentially have dramatic effects on the observer's behaviour. ...Displays of pain and suffering and other person's reactions provide powerful examples of interpersonal behaviour with the immediate and long-term effects on the observer potentially of considerable importance."
-Kenneth D. Craig
"This project is an attempt to express pains of which the mind can conceive yet lacks an effective tool of expression. My work is essentially about what I feel, the abstract thoughts without a form flowing in my mind like a constant headache. This project was a way of curing one of those headaches by finding a way to understand it."
- Excerpt from Riki's MA dissertation
About "YUGEN," aesthetic philosophy the project was based on:
"Yugen can be apprehended by the mind, but it cannot be expressed in words. Its quality may be suggested by the sight of a thin cloud veiling the moon or by autumn mist swathing scarlet leaves on mountainside. If one asked where in these sights lies the yugen, one cannot say, and it is not surprising that a man who fails to understand this truth is likely to prefer the sight of a clear, cloudless sky. It is quite impossible to explain wherein lies the interest or the remarkable nature of yugen."

Fragments of Confusion / Original music by Sebastian Plano >>
Mind is like a disorientated map. Fragments of thoughts come and go, which our logic connects to make it into narrative we can understand. Feelings, however, are never quite logical. This video expresses a glimpse of a mind going through distress, anxiety, frustration, and confusion; being lost in her own mind. Our reality asks us to dust our troubles and get on. And she must, no matter her confusion.
Practicing Love >>
A person practicing expressing affection in front of a mirror in a lonely night was the concept for this character. I thought of this while trying to see how I looked smiling in the mirror. There seems to be a gap between how the world perceives me and how I perceive myself. That gap affects how others understand the way I express what I feel. Loving another person completely and for long seems to be a lonely and an impossible task for many.
