"Words are an awful way to explain things to each other." –Vincent Van Gogh
You are in emotional, mental, and physical pain but do not have the power of speech. You can hear, you can see, you can feel, you can think, and you can move, but no one seems to recognize your pain. Even if you have the power of speech, the words are incapable of expressing what you feel. Communication seems vain.
In this improvisational workshop piece, the bandage represent words. Two performers pushing and pulling each other represents communication.
Photos were taken during the improv. session with two brilliant performers, Liz Wilks and Jon Gavaghan with live piano improv. by Raul Feurtes Feurtes. Assistant was provided by Titi Dimak and Mafalda Cruz. Location: Central School of Speech and Drama, London, UK.
This was one of my very first work with video cameras, improvisation, performers, and editing.
