My days have been quite occupied with various works that need plowing through on my lap. It's taking early mornings through late evenings to not get behind.
One of the projects I'm excited about, which I already have an initial concept design up in my website, is going through some early design phases after some needs and ideas have been discussed.
When I'm working concepts and first design drafts for projects that will have physical manifestation such as a theatre production, I feel drawing thumbnails is not enough. My design will be more functional and satisfy the needs of the stage design better by playing with few quickly made physical shapes. There will be a pretty model later, but... I find that working with scraps in the beginning prevents me from obsessing over details that may not be useful when working on the final design. Stay tuned to see how this production design turns out.
Right now, I have to stare at my cue sheets for Ragtime and do some sketches.
